Teenage Driver Agreement for Families
This agreement is between ________________________________ (hereafter referred to as "parents") and ________________________________ (hereafter referred to as "teen") regarding the use, operation, rules and regulations of any of the family automobiles.
- Driving is a privilege, not a right.
- The vehicle which teen will most frequently earn the privilege to operate is ____________________. Use of the vehicle with permission will be contingent on meeting all rules and regulations in this agreement.
- Keys to the vehicle must always be placed _______________________________ when the vehicle is not is use.
- In the event of foul weather or other vehicle maintenance, parents shall always have priority for the use of all vehicles.
- Teen will not under any circumstances drive company cars provided for the use of parents.
- Teen will not allow anyone else to drive the family cars, except for parents.
- Maximum number of passengers in the vehicle with teen is _____. The preferred number of passengers is ____. ALL PASSENGERS AND TEEN MUST HAVE SEATBELTS ON AND THE DOORS LOCKED BEFORE THE CAR IS MOVED.
- Teen is responsible for the following maintenance items if checked:
Teen is responsible for all mechanical breakdowns as a result of teen's negligence.

- The car shall be kept clean inside and out. No Smoking is allowed in the automobiles.
- The privilege of operating the family cars may be withdrawn if school grade point average goes below ____. Driving privileges may also be withdrawn if behavior in the home, school, or community is not acceptable.
- Teen will call police and wait for their arrival if involved in an accident, regardless of who is at fault. If teen is at fault in an accident, teen will share in the cost of repairs and increases in insurance premiums. Teen will pay all costs associated with tickets, including legal fees and increased insurance costs. Tickets may result in suspension of driving privileges in addition to paying the costs involved.
- Teen must ask permission before driving in icy or snowy conditions. Teen must exercise extra caution when driving on wet roads.
- Alcohol or drugs are not permitted in family cars, whether open or not. Any use or possession of alcohol or drugs will be grounds for immediate suspension of driving privileges.
- Teen agrees to keep radio volume at a reasonable level. Excessive volume is rude. Teen also agrees not to attempt to tune the radio, change tapes or CDs, dial a cell phone, or engage in any other distracting activity while driving.
- The lives and safety of passengers are in teen's hands when driving. Teen's actions can result in death or injury to others, and bankruptcy to parents. Teen agrees to exercise caution at all times. Teen is also responsible for the conduct of passengers in the car.
- Teen agrees to drive defensively, and be alert for mistakes by other drivers and pedestrians. While the courts may pin blame on one person, most accidents result from a degree of negligence on both parts.
