Neighborhood fun house
There's one in every neighborhood; That one house where all of the local kids congregate to play. Sometimes it's the family that has a pool. Sometimes, it's a trampoline. Sometimes it's a mini-bike, or go-cart, or other motor sport machine. These things all have two things in common. They are a lot o fun, and they have high potential to get you sued. Insurance companies respond to these items in different ways.
Swimming Pools - Insurance companies recognize swimming pools an increased risk, but one which they are willing to accept if properly managed. As long as the pool is properly fenced and maintained, and not used for business, we don't have trouble getting coverage. However, we do suggest that pool owners purchase the highest liability limits offered under their homeowners policy, and ask us about a personal umbrella for extra liability coverage. Never allow anyone who has been drinking alcohol in your pool!!!
Motor Sports Equipment- If you have a dune buggy, mini-bike or dirt bike, jet ski, boat, go-cart, golf cart or even a moped, you need to make sure that you talk to your agent about liability coverage. Except in a few cases, homeowners policies do not cover liability arising out of these machines. Call us for a quote on a specialty policy for liability for any of these items.
Trampolines- Insurance companies have a real problem with trampolines. Trampolines have a lot of potential to cause very serious injuries. Many insurance companies have eligibility guidelines that say they will not insure anyone who owns a trampoline. However, since most applications don't ask about trampolines, they often do not find out about the trampoline until there is a claim, or they do an inspection.
